Shannon Garson- Mas & Mieke Ceramic House

Join me for my first solo exhibition in Brisbane for over a decade.

Over the past twenty years I have been exploring thrown, porcelain vessels decorated with intricate drawings. I juxtapose classic, clean porcelain vessels with the infinite variety of striations, spots, and marks found in nature. Marginal eco-systems have led me through wallum swampland, over sea cliffs and underwater to make work about the tidal zone, endangered paperbark habitat and rare native flora and fauna. The bowls, jugs, teapots and cups, shapes that we are all so familiar with, provide a window that leads the viewer into the drawing and over and under all the surfaces of the form. I think these shapes encourage the idea of touching the artwork, getting closer, examining the tiny, hidden details, this is a metaphor for what happens when you are bush walking, or beachcombing.

Opens Saturday July 16- 4.30pm- 6.30 pm
