The Australian landscape and how it forms our identity has a tradition that is largely dominated by male artists. The landscape is vast and the perspective of our traditional landscape paintings overlooks the vastness. The artists in this exhibition have an approach to landscape that looks through the landscape, focussing on macro details, the distance is concertined and minutiae is accentuated. This exhibition connects emotions to the landscape, a sense of home coming, safety, wonder at detail, repetitive technical crafting of both two and three dimensional work brings a fresh perspective to landscape. The work evokes immersive experience of Australian landscape rather than a point of view overlooking this is a walk through the bush. There is a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and material process within the works of these artists that links their practices.
